Carole Bond

An environmental scientist, sustainability practitioner and marketing professional Carole has more than 24 years business experience working in the steel industry, media, engineering, government at all levels and multi-sector consultancy. For the past 17 years she has specialised in environment and sustainable development with a focus on raising awareness, promoting attitudinal shifts and supporting behavioural change around sustainable development issues in organisations across all sectors.

Since beginning work in this field in 1993, Carole has worked with businesses of all sizes as well as with local authorities, UK Government departments, Government funded bodies, NGOs and professional and academic institutions. She has instigated and worked with a variety of cross-sectoral partnerships, and organisational development programmes and initiatives and has extensive experience and understanding of facilitating groups in a variety of contexts including recent work with public sector leaders groups in England and Wales on leadership for sustainable development.

For the past five years Carole has been involved with managing the development and delivery of the Government’s business support programme Envirowise in the South West, which advises businesses across all sectors on resource efficiency issues. She is also currently working with the Institute of Marketing on a two year project addressing climate change issues with marketing practitioners, and is part of a research team at the University of Bath working on a three year EPSRC funded research project to investigate the uptake of low carbon technologies in the food industry.

Carole is a Chartered Marketer and she holds an MSc in Responsibility and Business Practice from the University of Bath for her work on language and gender in sustainability. She is a founding member of a number of sustainability fora and director of the regional environmental organisation Horizon South West. Carole is also an associate of the Centre for Action Research in Professional Practice based in the School of Management at the University of Bath.
